![]() And this retrograde transit means that Saturn may pass over the degree it was in on your birth chart two or three times in one year. But complicating matters is (dun dun dun) Saturn Retrograde! Saturn spends about four to five months of each year in retrograde motion, a period in which it retraces its steps in its orbit before moving forward again (from our point of view on Earth, that is). If you were born in 1991 (or 1961), then this year, Saturn will return to the exact degree it was in when you were born. Your first Saturn Return (that’s the one in your late 20s) often coincides with major changes in your career, relationships, and friendships. Think of Saturn as a high school principal-no bad decision goes unnoticed, and no goody two-shoes goes unrewarded. It’s the taskmaster of the zodiac, the planet that rewards us for good behavior and punishes us for bad behavior. In fact, it’s known for a cool, aloof detachment. But thanks to Saturn Retrograde, certain people get an extra one or two Saturn Returns-and it’s happening to some early ’90s bbs right now. Usually, we have two or three of these in our lives-one in our late 20s, one in our late 50s, and one (if we’re lucky) in our late 80s. It’s a cosmic rite of passage that occurs when the planet Saturn returns to where it was in the sky when you wer e born. Every 27 to 29 years, we each experience a pivotal change in our lives called our Saturn Return.
